A collection of about 14 to 21 different maqams, called the ancient maqams, makes an important part of the music of Kermanshahan. These maqams are also known as being "Qeyr-e yari:", "Qeyr-e Kalam" and "Qeyr-e haqqani". Such terms are actually used to distinguish these maqams from the sacred ones (the ritual hymns of the Yarasan) known as the kalam.
